Since then I've picked up a couple other guitars to cover the metal stuff and wanted my strat to sound like a strat again but misplaced the original pickups. the pre-wired pickguard was an easy choice since I'm no expert with a soldering iron. I had everything swapped out, including the string change and tuning, in about 20 minutes; couldn't have been easier. The pickups are brighter than I remember and, for the first time in a long time, I'm using the tone knobs to ease back the high end brittleness. Even so, it's great to get the single coil sound back and I couldn't be happier.
